APhA is opposed to the use of performance-enhancing drugs by athletes unless deemed therapeutically necessary by a health care professional following the policies and procedures set forth by the appropriate governing organizations.
APhA advacates for the public's education on the safety, potential consequences, and misinformation pertaining to the use of performance-enhancing drugs by athletes.
APhA encourages enforcement of laws, regulations, policies, and rules related to the use of performance-enhancing drugs by athletes.
APhA affirms that pharmacists are the medication and supplement experts for the sports medicine community.
APhA encourages pharmacy personnel to participate in continuing professional education, training, and certifications relevant to sports pharmacy.
APhA supports research on sports pharmacy, athlete care, and the outcomes associated with the integration of pharmacists into sports medicine interprofessional care.
