Virginia takes steps to improve work environment in pharmacies
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin recently signed House Bill (HB) 1324 into law. After numerous reports over many months of workplace issues in pharmacies that could compromise patient, pharmacist, and pharmacy personnel safety, HB 1324 takes steps to improve the system. The legislation directs the Virginia Board of Pharmacy to adopt regulations addressing sufficient pharmacy staffing, rest periods for pharmacy personnel, requirements on adequate time to complete duties, and other provisions. The board is required to implement these rules by January 16, 2023.
