Defining misinformation
Misinformation is false information that is created or spread without false intent.
Misinformation about medications and devices spreads quickly through social networks, group chats,
podcasts, and social media and can show up as a question in the pharmacy within the same week.
Patients are getting health information from so many directions at once—their doctor, family
member, neighbor, a YouTube video, an AI chatbot—and the sheer volume is overwhelming.
