Rebuilding our chapter following the pandemic

What a special moment it was for our chapter as we received the 2021–2022 APhA–ASP Chapter Professionalism Award during the APhA–ASP Opening General Session at the 2023 APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Phoenix! All nine of our annual meeting–attending members, who each played an integral role in rebuilding our chapter’s involvement and achievements following the COVID-19 pandemic, were there to see us be recognized.

The importance of digital health

Digital health encompasses important and evolving tools for utilization in pharmacy practice and improvement of patient outcomes, and is defined as the technology used in health professions to manage diseases with the purpose of promoting wellness. Digital health has demonstrated the potential to improve clinical outcomes in pharmacy practice and reduce associated costs with chronic disease state management.1 These tools may include wearable devices, mobile applications, and telehealth.1

Digital health: A necessary part of the curriculum

At Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) College of Pharmacy, digital health is being integrated into the curriculum to ensure student pharmacists are prepared for both clinical rotations and postgraduate careers. Although there are yet to be classes solely dedicated to digital health, professors at TJU have made it a point to incorporate concepts of digital health throughout all didactic years whenever possible.
